What is a Veterinary Specialist?
After graduation as a veterinarian, some individuals choose to
pursue further training, education and experience in a specific
discipline of veterinary medicine. Veterinary internists focus on
internal medicine diseases in dogs and cats; veterinary
surgeons specialize in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery in
dogs, cats and other species.
Veterinary Surgeons
To become a veterinary surgeon, a veterinarian undertakes 3-4
years of advanced training with an internship and residency,
and then authors an article in a professional publication. After
passing certifying examinations of the American College of
Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), the individual is conferred the
status of Board Certified in Veterinary Surgery.
Veterinary Internists
To become a veterinary internist, a veterinarian undertakes 3-4
years of advanced training with an internship and residency,
and then authors an article in a professional publication. After
passing certifying examinations of the American College of
Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM), the individual is
conferred the status of Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

CMSG is affiliated with Pasadena Veterinary Specialists,
offering up-to-date diagnostic techniques and treatments with
surgery, internal medicine, and 24 hour critical and emergency
care all in one convenient location.
Our Staff
Our small animal team consists of surgeons, internists,
registered veterinary technicians and receptionists, who are all
committed to serving our patients and clients by practicing
cutting edge veterinary medicine with compassion and care. We
pride ourselves on putting our patient's comfort and well-being
first, and in treating every pet as if he or she were a member of
our own family.
Our Referral Policy
Pets must be referred to CMSG by their family veterinarian.
CMSG specialists will treat your pet for the specific condition
he or she was referred for, and will work closely with your
family veterinarian in the process of diagnosis, treatment and
follow-up care.
CMSG specialists will never perform any routine veterinary
care (such as vaccinations, dental care) on referral patients.
